On Friday February 3, 2017 , MICA hosted its 2nd annual 'Pop Up and Pitch' exhibit, Round 1 of the annual UP/Start Venture Competition. Thirty MICA business ventures were on display in Leidy Atrium as a panel of judges, including some of the Maryland region's most exciting entrepreneurs and experts, evaluated concepts ranging from hand-crafted textiles, ceramics, custom high end guitars, to a mobile print studio.
Of the 30+ who applied, 8 teams were vetted to continue on to Round 2 of UP/Start, MICA's Entrepreneurship competition, which is generously funded by The Ratcliffe Foundation. These teams will compete for up to $100,000 in funding for their existing or start up business.
