2016 MICApreneurship Business Lunches - Lunch, Knowledge, Networking
Each month (with the exception of April 2016) in the Spring semester, MICApreneurship will be hosting business lunches, directed at answering the immediate needs and challenges of graduating students who wish to pursue a start-up or business idea upon graduation. Spaces are limited, first come, first serve and advance registration is required. Registration for the lunches will open up on Thursday January 21, 2016. Please see the dates and details below. These sessions are designed to be relevant to preparation for the upcoming MICA Entrepreneurship competition in April 2016. Priority attendance will be designated to teams participating in Pop UP & Pitch Day.
January Business Lunch - The Art of the Pitch

We will be talking about the role of the "Pitch" when it comes to seeking funding for your new or existing business, and how to apply principles of this important process to the overall success of your enterprise. Whether it's pitching for funding, or introducing yourself to a future client or referral partner, effective pitching is a skill anyone can benefit from. Pitch expert, serial start-up founder and business enthusiast Ryan Chacon.
Ryan has over 5 years of experience as a founder, early employee and advisor in start-up companies. He has worked to design, build, market, raise funding for and launch technology related products and businesses.
His previous companies have been fortunate enough to win multiple business and entrepreneurship competitions/awards, as well as having been selected by experts in Silicon Valley and Chile to be a part of the world's largest and most diverse start-up community in the world for early stage, high-potential entrepreneurs, Start-Up Chile.
Ryan is currently an advisor to multiple startups in the Maryland area and working with a small team to build his next startup and one of MICApreneurship's Mentors.

No business has a chance of success without being properly capitalized. Understanding the role banks, your personal credit and other options play in your opportunity to get started on the right foot is super important. Finance and financial understanding are building blocks of successful businesses, you don't have to be an expert, but it's important to understand what's what, and how to best position yourself for success. We'll be gaining valuable knowledge, insight and how to from banker and business expert Richard Yoskey.
Richard has been in the banking industry for over a decade. An advisor to several start up and scaling businesses he is also an MBA candidate and involved in various community activities within and outside of the business community.
